Welcome to the site jugs  :D

I thought that they were grown from seed, started off in the same way as annual sweet peas.

If anyone knows any different, I'm sure they'll be along to say so!
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

That's how I did it with those "rescued" from Guernsey.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Hi & welcome

Some perennials can be grown from root cuttings, not sure if it would work with sweet peas (everlasting).

Funnily just looking at everlasting peas & google found this old thread, someone mentions root cuttings on it.

Don't ask me for cuttings advice, never perfected cuttings !

I've never heard of taking root cuttings from everlasting sweet peas but you would have to do it in winter when the plant was dormant.I've done it a lot with papaver orientale. You get the thick fleshy root and cut 2-4 ins sections with a straight cut at the top and angled cut at the bottom then push into moist cutting compost with the top of the cutting flush with the compost. If the roots are fine (i do this with geraniums) just lay them on moist cutting compost, just making sure they have firm contact(that's the worrying bit).then just pop in a cold frame and wait.I've mentioned the two kinds as I don't know what type of roots they have. The danger is you could loose the whole plant as most legumes drive down a deep tap root(then again this could be perfect for root cutting).Youv'e really got me thinking now please let us know how you get on.
