My broody's just hatched a clutch of eggs! There's 5 up to now, including 2 Salmon Faverolles, a Light Sussex and a couple of farmyard specials that I think have got some New Hampshire Red in them. One of the Araucana eggs just started cheeping, so I think there's another on the way.

I know that many of you have seen all this before, but seriously, I'm so excited I can barely sleep

I'm very envious, ours aren't due for another week and somehow I don't think my Sussex will let me get that close

Well, they're a month old now! I took their 'birthday' photo as they got tucked up to bed tonight- they're still snuggling up under Mum, although they stuck their heads out to see what all the commotion was;

I thought Mum would have lost interest by now though. She laid an egg the other day- which must only be her third as I think she only laid a couple before she went broody. I thought that this might have taken her mind off the chicks.

This is an odd request but here goes: The very first photo no. 5701174216 on your  flicker has a photo of a gorgeous brown chicken to the left of it. She looks the image of one of my chickens. Can you tell me what breed that is.

Thanks for your kind comments- Beano, I'm afraid I can't help.  2 of them are Salmon Faverolles, and that I think one of the others may be a light sussex. I think the brown one might have some new hampshire red in it, but I'm really not sure.
