Mick - please don't plagiarise whole chunks from another site without at least giving a citation, especially a site like the RHS.

A simple link, which I've now included would have sufficed.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Thank you for the link...... I researched the condition on various site including this one before I posted on here but I was really after a little assurance that the rest of my crop will be ok (after such hard work), this is only my second year growing potatoes and knew there must be more experienced gardeners out there with some stories to tell...

Always grateful for any advice xx

Hi Kiaweeze, a couple of my spuds had this 2 years ago and I whipped the infected one's out asap and the rest of the crop was fine - I'm always of the mind that if it doesn't 'look right' then it's better to yank it out rather than leave it for a couple of weeks by which time infections can have spread far and wide!

I've lost four plants to blackleg this year, all Lady Christl which is annoying as they're the best tasting of all earlies. I grow mine in containers so have disposed of plants and all compost they were in.

I know certified seed is no guarantee of disease free spuds but four from one pack is a poor show.

Sorry to hear you also have fallen victum to blackleg sollway cropper, on closer inspection of my Anya potato plants I fear the whole lot may be infected, thats 18 plants (ouch!!), think I may need to put a brave face on and consider removing the lot before they infect the others....will have another look tomorrow.
