Trying to do some form of crop rotation when growing in blocks meant I got a bit confused and planted some dwarf beans in the roots raised bed which is stalag-like debris netted against the fly.
Does this mean I won't get pollination? I can cut the netting from one end of the bed if really necessary.
I also have small patches of summer psb and cabbage in other beds and I've realised I will need to fleece or debris those against the cabbage whites soon!!
ALL the beds are netted with various sizes of net to stop pigeons and squirrels.
Has anyone got any tips for protecting small patches please?

French beans are self pollinating so it will not matter if they are covered.

Runner beans need to be pollinated by insects.

For small patches - I've read that some people just lay fleece loosely over the top of plants, held down in the soil at the edges (with stones/pegs/whatever's handy) and let the plants push it up as they grow. I've never tried (unsurprisingly, as it's my first year with an allotment, so know nothing!), but I'm going to try it later on. The other thing I've done is, when I built my raised beds I left the corner posts tall (about 60 cm) so that I can drape over netting or fleece depending on what crop I've got in there.
