My peas under pegged down debris netting have not been touched.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Neat holes where every pea should be is almost certianly mice. Set a few traps, put them under upturned boxes and bait with chips, cheese, mars bar or peanut butter.

It may be that what the mice don't get the pigeons do.

Yes, I agree it's mice. I was put off the track by my wife's report of seeing wood pigeons along the row, hence the chicken wire. I'll have one last (fourth!!) attempt and try to kill off the mice with traps at the same time. So much for the conventional advice trotted out in all the books that pre-soaking the peas in paraffin deters the mice.
