onion set question

someone has just given me some onion sets (stuttgarter riesen)

its a sealed pack but says on them to plant  march-april, does that meen i couldnt plant now and use them as my over winter ones?

Correct.  They are not winter hardy.

But neither will they keep until next year so bung them in & expect to pick tops as onion greens

Worth a try but I reckon they will bolt before giving you decent onions.  You'll certainly get nicer onion greens from the tunnel
