Filled 3 stack & stores with windfalls in a Nat. Trust car park whilst on holiday.

They are bland, not sweet, nor are they cookers (so not Genadier). So why did I bother picking them up? - to press and blend with sugar/crab apple juice (pressed last year) to give the right kick & bite for fermenting:

No, they're definitely not cookers (had a few Bramleys at same location), as they're so bland (even blander than the worst eating(?) apple I have ever tasted) and have a total absence of sharpness.

They just look so much like Bramleys.  Is it possible that they might be an accidental hybrid involving a Bramley?  I don't know enough about apples to know whether hybrids can happen naturally.

Definitely not Bramleys.

They also are so soft/mushy that you could probably push a finger in to first knuckle joint.

Are they by any chance 'Grenadier'?

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Unless the precise location suggests otherwise it is probably from an accidental seed.

Although I initially dismissed Grenadier (despite looking so similar), because Grenadier is a cooker, and I thought all cookers were hard and sharp, and these taste so bland and are really soft, but have since read Grenadier "cook down to a white fluff"

What do Grenadier taste like when eaten raw?
