Ever increasing Raspberry plants
« on: April 20, 2011, 13:42 »
I planted 6 Raspberry plants in a 8ft square raised bed. I covered the soil with weed control fabric topped with bark chips. I know the fabric was not a good idea and since finding this out have cut big holes around the plants for the new shoots to appear.

In the past few weeks several new plants have appeared right around the edges of the raised bed that when grown will effect all my paths.

Can I move them?. Should I move them ?. And is this normal for Raspberries.

When they've grown to a reasonable size you can dig them up and treat them as new plants (you will need to sever the root attaching it to the parent plant.)

If you don't want more plants you can just hoe them off just below the soil.

If you want a few ideas as to how to stop them taking over your entire plot read this very recent thread:

Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!
