Homemade sticky tapes for whitefly

Hello all! I am new here and am hoping for an answer to my prayers.

Every year I have a problem with clouds of whitefly esp on my kale. They even enjoy the drive home from the allotment and reek havok in my kitchen!! I want to use yellow sticky tapes but to keep costs down I want to make my own.
I have no shortage of yellow card but need sticky stuff to go on them. I have tried vaseline but the whitefly won't stick

. USA sites on the net suggest stuff called tanglefoot... where can I get this or similar in UK or how can I make a sticky glue???

After washing greenfly out of the plum tree i used sellotape to make a sticky band around the trunk and caught hundreds that were trying to walk back up.

Cheap and worth a try on the yellow card.

I wonder how Spraymount would work? It's an adhesive in a spray can which I have used at work for mounting photos onto posters etc ... if you don't put protective paper down on surfaces, it gets everywhere and seems to stay sticky for ages.

How about "Pritstick" - the stuff you can spread on paper so it becomes like "Post-its"?

Ooh! Some nice ideas... Thank you all. I like the pritstick one and spraymount.. even treacle but that sounds very messy. I shall do some trials around my compost bin "Dalek" at home which has tons of the little critters!!! I will let you know how I get on. What a lovely day it's been today. Lots of digging done... time for a nice cold lager

How did you get on with the Pritt Stick idea?

I have same problem! I came on the site to search for ideas for removing whitefly from my sprouting broccoli plants when I came across your post.

I am hoping I won't have to resort to spraying with chemicals. My plants are outside and so I can't use the wasp that eats them in the greenhouse. I guess I could try lollipop sticks in the ground with yellow card on them covered with a sticky substance.

I am guessing that ladybirds eat whitefly as I have several on my plants.

If anyone else has other ideas I would be very grateful to hear about them.

i bought 4 old fashioned sticky tapes for �1...probably cheaper than all that treacle
