There's a bit on this site about the various trees you can get, but I can't find anything about starting them from seed.  I'm just going to pop it in the ground and hope for the best.  Wish me luck  :tongue2:

Good luck but why waste you'r time waiting for what I consider the best fruit tree to produce.I was coming on the site especially to wax lyrically about how beautiful plum trees are when they are in full bloom when I saw you'r post.My victoria plum trees also have the added bonus of the blossom having a beautiful scent .Somthing I haden't noticed before even though i've had them for about 7 years. With the best bonus of all in early autumn of lovely sweet, juicy plumbs. They don't cast much of a shade either which is something you have to consider because my plumbs are grafted on to a dwarfing rootstock. If you grow the plum from seed you could have quite a big tree.

I had 3 Mirabelle plum trees given to me not so long ago and they all self seeded. They all have blossom on them at the moment and I'm hoping for a small crop this season and a bumper one next time round :) :)

Thanks sion01.  Maybe I'll just put it in a big pot in the garden instead then.  It couldn't get too big then I suppose.

Plum wine, Plum jam and of course Plum tart - all good reasons to grow a plum!!
