For the brassicas (cabbage type veggies) grab some envirofleece, enviromesh that sort of thing.  Go for the smallest holes you can.

I've seen cabbage white butterflies struggling to get through the normal sized netting mesh, practically tearing their wings off in the urge to lay their eggs on your brassicas.

Not sure about pumpkins,  the two legged pests are the ones to watch out for.

Cheers,   Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

Generally no need to protect pumpkins from bugs, besides which you need the bees to visit and pollinate those flowers otherwise no fruit  ;)  Depending on where you are and when you plant them out, watch out for an unexpected frost and cover with fleece (better still, wait until risk of frost has passed, usually from about mid-late May)

yes I agree, environmesh or mesh with holes of 7mm or smaller for all the brassicas and no coverings for pumpkins. Towards the end of the season you may wish to cover them in the evening against frost if you have fruits that are still ripening.
