hi, can anybody tell me what is the best way to get rid of meres tail as it is starting to make an apperance on my new plot, best regards archie

Unless you have a thermonuclear device spare, then you're down to Glyphosate (crush the fronds and/or stems to help it get through the waxy skin), or the age-old advice of dig, dig and dig again until you've removed all the root system. The above in the order of personal preference.

Doddy has it - but dig dig first then glyphosphate whatever you miss, then dig whatever survives the glyphospate then glyphospate whatever survives the dig etc

Rinse then repeat!

I'm with mumofstig - theres nothing I enjoy as much as the sound of ripping mares' tail.  It does seem to get weaker the more you attack it - its been under attack from me for 3 years.  I never let the stuff flower either. Horrible stuff - it has no uses  :tongue2:

I had it on my old plot and I hoed it every time it made an appearance. This does weaken it greatly but it will still reappear if you turn your back on it.

As others have said never let it see a Sunday.
