We have 2 Bovan Browns who both lay eggs about 70 grams every day but today one of them has laid a huge egg 100 grams.  We have only had them for about six months - but never had one like this before - should we be worried - will it cause damage. They both seem to be fine.

one of my ginger warren type hens laid a 113g egg a couple weeks ago & shes fine. Sometimes hens that lay large eggs all the time can have prolapses, so just check her that no "fleshy bits" are hanging out of her rear end.

It's not uncommon for the commercial hybrids to lay the occasional large egg, especially if they are young.

As ww says, you could look them over to make sure they haven't prolapsed, which is one of the main dangers of laying really large eggs... other than that, enjoy what could be a double yolker

We had a huge egg from one of our hybrids a while ago. We didn't weigh it, but it tourned out to be a double yolker.

we too had one this size and it was a triple yoker wonderful with toasted soldiers it came from a bluebella
