mouse v peas tip
« on: March 23, 2011, 19:56 »
My OH's mother told me a tip for stopping mice eating newly planted peas:  put some rose prunings on the soil.  The critturs  don't like the prickles!!! :tongue2:

Dip them in red lead
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

Thinks - "where to get that many rose prunings?"

I think gorse was the traditional mouse deterrent but be warned for every animal you dissuade with any prickly stuff you are likely to stab yourself at least a dozen times.

Ps Mice manage to climb and eat blackberries (and rose hips), they are better at avoiding thorns than we are.
