Parsnips in 'newspaper' pots
« on: March 22, 2011, 16:01 »
This year I sowed parsnips in in newspaper rolls instead of loo rolls! 8)

But when I planted them out I seen red bits on top of the growing medium

Anybody got any ideas why? :D
It all depends what you put into the ground, to what you get out

You're planting them in tabloids and not broadsheets.  Do I win a prize?  ;)

Was it "Socialist Worker?"

Newspaper pots tend to grow a bit of fungus on the outside (worse with toilet roll tubes because the glue apparently provides extra nutrients!) but it's normally white, and usually harmless.

(In other words; I dunno!)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older
