We normally put it straight in the ground any time from April (here). :)

I sow later as I think early sowing more inclined to bolt - but if you cut-and-come-again that may not be an issue.

Mine are just coming up in a seedtray inside but they're going out soon. I've found them to be pretty tough plants (they even overwintered uncovered with no damage!) and last year I kept moving them because of space with no adverse effects.
Only thing is...they never look like the pics on the packet! Usually smaller with less of the crunchy stalk (but still good!)
