There are many stories on here of hens that have gone missing, presumed taken by a fox who stroll back the next day, so fingers crossed for you.  You will obviously have to review your security arrangements if the hens can run away
3 dogs, 8 chickens, 4 rabbits 2 guinea pigs, 10 quail, 2 fish and a demanding daughter who has gone to uni and left me with 29 animals to care for!!=)

we let them have a run around in the evening for a couple of hours when I get home from work. Their pen is secure once there in it but the wife left it a too late to get them all in while I was out feeding the cattle. I hope she turns up coz I have got kind of attatched to them now. Fingers crossed thanks for your support

One of mine flew over their pen at the end of last year, hey did free range but I had a few taken by a fox , so then kept them in their pen.  she felt like a wander and despite searching the barns and woods we could find her, or any trace of her.  Presumed dead.  the next morning, she was waiting outside of the pen, making such a noise to the others for not being up yet!!!
I do hope you have agood ending too.  If you did not find any feathers about then chances are she is hiding safely somewhere.

Fingers crossed for you.

When we first got hens, one of ours went missing for weeks, and we presumed she'd been taken by a fox, but eventually we found her underneath a big bag of sheep fleeces, sitting on 14 eggs!

Hope you're as lucky with your awol hen.

I've had similar experiences many times.  They are quite clever at hiding so unless you have a very active fox population I suspect she'll be strutting about outside the run tomorrow.

Sadly not all chicken stealers have 4 legs.
