too late to split rhubarb?
« on: March 17, 2011, 20:29 »
Hi all,

My rhubarb has shot up and now has big leaves on 10'' stalks- this is great, but it's an old plant and really needs splitting.. am I too late?

Much love.

You can split it now, but don't expect much harvest this year as the roots will spend energy recovering rather than producing.

If spring isn't a good time to divide the rhubarb, then do it in fall when it starts to die down and you can still find it. It'll hang in until then.
