holes in my eggs????
« on: March 13, 2011, 19:06 »
Strange one, not too sure if i this is usual.

When i boil my eggs there appears to be very small holes in the shells that give out bubbles for about 1 minute.

They are not bubbles from the pan or the boiling process, is this usual has anyone else experienced it?????????? The eggs i am doing now are 6 days old, never noticed it before.

Any ideas? anyone?

Perfectly normal :)

Remember, the egg shell is porus, and the bubbles you see is just the air from the inside being forced out as it heats up :)

If you want hard boiled eggs for peeling the shell only boil eggs which are at least 7 days old and preferably 10.  Otherwise you will find the white too crumbly and they will be difficult to peel cleanly.
