Path problem
« on: March 02, 2011, 08:43 »
Hi all,

Right, i went to see my new plot last night and it's huge (really really long).
There is a slight problem though (there always is), the guy with the plot next to mine has dug, built and planted right to the boundry of the two plots, he has not aloud for a path at all and he has planted trees on the path boundry too.
There is a post marking the plot boundrys and if i build a path it will take up part of my plot and like i said he has planted trees on the boundry line and they will shadow my full plot.
What can i do?

Definitely speak to the landlord or site manager to confirm the boundaries and communal footpaths.  Something similar happened to my plot before I took it on that I was unaware of, and during the first year I just accepted the "boundary" until my rent was due and realised that a third of my plot was missing.  When I spoke to the council, I half expected them to adjust my plot size and charge me accordingly, but they marked out the proper boundaries and footpaths and (fortunately it was a vacant plot next door), bulldozed and removed all the stuff that had been put on my plot by that previous neighbour  ;)

I'd also look at the tenancy agreement and see whether trees are allowed ...

Otherwise I think you're stuck with them, unfortunately  :(

Sometimes I do look at plots on my site and think that the tenants are incredibly thoughtless or selfish, depending on their level of awareness !
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
