Brahmas
« on: February 27, 2011, 17:26 »
I would like to keep Brahma's but OH is put off by the feathered feet.  :tongue2:  He feels that the feathered feet on mud could cause problems.  We are contemplating concreting the new run we are building but I'm not sure I like the idea of the chooks not being able to scratch.  :blink:

Do the feathered feet cause problems on mud?  What are your thoughts on concreted areas?

Thanks
Melody

I have sabelpoots with feathered feet and had no problems - if they do get mud balls stuck on their feathers then it is just a case of soaking them  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

I breed brahmas and although they can get very muddy never had any real problems ;)
you have to make sure they don't get all clogged up and because of their feathered legs keep a close eye for scaly mite but brahmas are such gentle loving birds they are definitaly
worth considering ::)
also keep silkies and faverolles..........................just something about feathered legs :D
