Ours are in a small two storey coup on grass.  They have a cat litter tray upstairs with hemcore.  They sleep in this at night and the sides of the tray give them shelter from the draught through the small open door.  Downstairs they have a deep litter tray in which we put their  feeder (as they get dropping it all over the grass and making a soggy mess!)  They tend to sit in the downstairs tray behind the feeder (presumably to keep warm) they do eat a lot of the grass too so we move them every week.  They are very easy to keep, cheap and once they lay eggs will like them even more!

And Mulberry I am so not stupid, just cant spell dog!
3 dogs, 8 chickens, 4 rabbits 2 guinea pigs, 10 quail, 2 fish and a demanding daughter who has gone to uni and left me with 29 animals to care for!!=)

mine share the run with turkeys but have lots of places they can get that the turkeys cant the run is 30ft x 15ft and fully netted above or they would fly away and there housing is two rabbit hutches which have been converted by blocking off most of the mesh and putting in a little door and ramp they only use the houses when it is very cold or to eat as this is where the food is! i have found them in the turkeys shed before though!

you will have noticed Hayley's hens that my daughter (mulberry) can reply to my posts but seems to have forgotten how to pick up the phone and ring her mum!!

WE bought 6 as the breeder recommended that number.  To be honest if you like quails eggs I would have more as the are the easiest things to keep!

Rabbit cage all the way.... safe... easy to clean.... easy to find eggs..... warm..... safe from flying up and hitting heads on roof etc etc......

stick a rabbit bottle on the side and a gravity feeder in and they will be happy as larry :)
I love Pekins, Polands and Seramas :) and eggs!!!

I've never heard mine make any noise at all, but they are right down the garden, so at 4am they could be doing the conga for all I know =)

i was given 3 males which are older than the lot i hatched and they do make alot of noise in the summer they make a load shrill like mating call as soon as it starts getting light! i could hear them in the bedroom at the front of the house when they were on the back garden! its nothing like a cockerel but can be noisy at times! mine are on the allotment now so wont be a problem anymore (to me anyway)
