ive used Diatomatious earth and it works well, you can make a slurry out of it, By mixing some of that with some Fam 30.

Fam 30 is the replacement for Vanodine V18 5litres which is no longer available.
It is made up of the same ingredients but is 2/3 stronger

    * Quickly kills bacteria, viruses and fungi
    * Active in the presence of organic atter
    * Concentrated ministry approved formulation
    * Cleans and disinfects in one operation
    * Can be used in drinking water systems

Fam 30 is two thirds stronger than Vanodine V18.  It is non-toxic at the recommended dilutions.

Suitable for use on all livestock housing, and cages,  equipment, feeders and drinkers and all other non porus surfaces.

you mix these two together and small blob of normal washing up liquid and make a slurry, and they just paint it on to all the perches and all the corners, cracks etc Etc where Mites can hide.. The Fam 30 will carry on working even after its dryed, and the Diatonatious earth will kill the Mites..

Oh i would recommend getting Hemexsan instead of Diatomatious Earth its the same Stuff, only a lot cheaper.

As for Oxi mite i cant comment on that as i have never used it, Only ever used Hemexsan (as recommended by GrannieAnnie) and Touch wood Never had any redmite  ::)
I now have the chicken bug woot i love the Poland's

What happened to Vanodine then?  I haven't bought any for a while.

I use hemexsan too, as it is cheaper than Diatom.  Get it from Bowden and knights.  I think a 25kg bag was around £26 when I last got it, and their postage wasn't bad either considering the weight.

Never used oximite either,  use poultryshield.

i use Hemexsan because you recommended it Grannie  ::) As for Vanodine i guess they are phasing it out and replacing it with Fam 30 as its stronger *shrug* all I know is that its the replacement.

DE is good for discouraging mite to colonise but if they are already established it isn't powerful enough to get rid of them quickly and a pesticide such as Ficam W will do the job much quicker and work well on a wooden house.  It has a lasting effect even when dry so will keep your house free for around a year.

DE (diatomaceous earth will help to discourage further colonisations once the pesticide has zapped the outbreak.  The point about painting on the slurry is that it keeps the dust down which is a good idea in a house.  It also sticks on and lasts a good while if you don't wash it off but scrape perches.  It dries and stops droppings from sticking too.

Diatom & Hemexsan are product name s for DE.  Don't use DE to wormer as there are concerns about it's safety and effectiveness.  Use Flubenvet for worming.
