peas in unheated polytunnel
« on: January 21, 2011, 17:03 »
Hi, I was considering trying to get an earlier crop of peas by sowing in the house, then transplanting into the poly tunnel. does this sound a good idea, if so when do you experienced people suggest that I start planting.

Don't look at me - I've never sown this early before.

Have a look at this post:

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

The book 'Gardening Under Plastic' by Bernard Salt says to sow in mid February in root trainer/modules and place in a propagator, or a warm room untill they've germinated. Grow on in the polytunnel, and when they have a good root system plant them in the soil in the tunnel.

I hope this helps  :)
