Nobody has mentioned moles?

I have moles in my heap. Presumably they are after worms

Moles?

I don't think I'd mind having moles in my compost (preferable to rats and foxes perhaps) as long as they didn't eat too many of the worms and ruin the compost and providing they stayed there rather than wandering off around the plot making mole hills under my seedlings!

Do they cause much trouble?

No rushing about and making you jump I bet...  ;)
