Allotment vandalised again
« on: July 30, 2007, 14:10 »
I know this is a problem everywhere, but this is the third vandal attack since I got my allotment in June. As I have no shed, I haven't had anything done, but others have had their sheds smashed yet nothing stolen. It makes me think it's not worth having a shed there.

Rant over. :(
Lynne.

So much to do, but so little time.

Wanton vandalism makes me so angry.  Steeling stuff to sell I can kind of understand (but never condone) but smashing things up just for fun...

I feel for you Lynne.  I should HATE it to happen on my site  :!:

Lock has been broken on my lottie gates, so weve had a letter to meet secretary up there for new keys etc etc..

thing is , if you go around the back theres no steel fence and you can jump a small hedge to get in.  nothing of mine got wrecked luckily dont know about other folks yet, but my shed door was ajar, so someone had looked in.  brain donors!

Unfortunately, Vandalism and theft is as much part of having a Lottie as weeds and bad weather. Its just a shame we can't use the same tactics on the vandals and thieves that we do on the weeds.

Feel for you Lynne,

On our plot we have to take insurance out in case they hurt themselves whilst smashing up the place  :?

Grrrr - it makes you so angry!! Our site has been broken into twice since May - they only seem to take electrical or petrol driven things.
We only leave ordinary tools down there now, and carry our beloved gas cooker back and forth with us.
And as for having to take insurance out in case they hurt themselves - well what a load of twaddle, can't believe what the world has come to.

This seems to be a reacuring mentality with these idiots, bloke at the end of our street had his motorbike stolen, He's now found it smashed up, we assume it because they couldn't start it .

On the news tonight there was a college for the learning disabled systematically smashed to pieces room by room over the weekend.  Police have arrested a 12 year old and two 14 year olds.

It certainly did Shaun.  You would hope it was an April fool prank article, but it's not.  Soon we will be too scared to leave our homes.  It's this damn fool European Human Rights Act to blame.  It isn't fit for purpose.

When I lived in Manchester in the mid 90's I had my garden vandalised, they also stole some very expensive palms and yuccas I'd had for years, but mostly just wrecked things. With a bit of sleuthing I found out who it was, believe it or not, not kids, a group of 20 somethings. 3 "young professionals" sharing a house in the next street.

18 months later they had all their conservatory windows smashed in in the early hours.

Not sure who did it. I left Manchester around that time.
First timer, NOT enjoying the backache anymore!

Now that's what I call poetic justice Fletch, though still not entirely adequate.  Whoever did it  must have had a very good reason.
