Cyprus potatoes.

Iain could probably answer this, but does anyone know what variety the cyprus potato's are which we get in this country?
I like the flavour but they do recently seem to have a high water content.

but I would think that the red earth they are grown in makes a lot of difference to the taste.

Spunta is the one which I was looking for. It probably wouldn't be very succesful here due to the climate, but who knows?

Yes Spunta is the popular one from Cyprus. As stated above it is where it is grown that makes them taste different than when they are grown here.

Get some and see what they are like when grown here. The main grower is sold out of them so they will be hard to get hold of soon.
