No fresh snow here but day time temperatures are -5 to -3 and at night it is in double figures. Crosby on the other side of the Ribble was -17 last night. Does this mean my strawberry plants will have had it?

Are they new or established plants, outside or under cover?

Strawberries are extremely hardy plants but these exceptionally prolonged freezing conditions will no doubt cause some losses of various types of plants which normally survive our winters quite easily.

You can only cross your fingers and hope for the best for your strawberries; they've got a better chance than most!

Hi JayG,
They were new plants that i put in during September. Some were from runners and some were bought/donated. I got some fleece on them the first time we had a cold spell and they were fine, but the snow arrived when I was out and by time i got home they had at least 6 inches on them and since then it's been exceptionally cold. They have probably had it then?

Mine are still in 1lt pots...............didn't have a chance to plant them.
They are safer under snow, than just out in the freezing cold I think.
