Biscuits and cookies
« on: December 03, 2010, 16:14 »
How long to cookies and biscuits last once they have been made as i am planning on putting them in my Christmas hamper? :)
If you want to be happy for a short time - get drunk.

If you want to be happy for a long time - fall in love.

If you want to be happy forever - take up gardening!

It can depend on what you make but I'd make them as close to Christmas day as you can so they stay fresh.
Some cookie dough can be made and frozen until you need it. You take it out the freezer slice (when frozen) and place on a tray and bake, I do this a lot to save time when we decide we want a 'treat'.

I am also planning on doing borwnines and shortbread, but everything will be wrapped in that sellothane stuff, will this make much of a differance to its toring potential? :)

Keep the brownies and shortbread separately in air tight containers (if you keep them together you'll end uo with soggy shortbread).

However even if kept in airtight containers they'll only last a few days before the brownies start to dry out, and the shortbread begins to go soft :(

try to use a brownie recipe with some golden syrup in, this stops the cakes drying out so quickly...............

i some times make a few and then freeze what i dont want and just get them out as i need them , they dont need long to defrost and found that the chocolate ginger ones are very nice frozen .

Woman cannot live by bread alone , she must have cake , biscuits cheese and the occasional glass of wine .🍷

Jamie, I'm beginning to think that you have 2 extra weekends in your weeks in comparison to the rest of us!  How do you manage all of this and do your GCSE work at the same time???  Or are you just hyperactive and only need 1/2hr of sleep a week?

Just jealous really, just dont seem to have time to do anything other than work and looking after the animals, even the garden's gone to pot at the moment. (Not literally, in case there is a gentleman in  blue reading).
