frozen eggs!
« on: November 28, 2010, 14:54 »
some of the eggs my girls layed yesterday were hidden under the coop (they often do this) i know they were yesterdays as i checked yesterday morn but didnt see them in the dark last night, when i found them this morn they were frozen, one had cracked but the other is fine. they question is can i still eat them when they have defrosted or does freezing them affect them?

you shouldn't keep anything that has frozen and defrosted unless you know it has been frozen for a long enough period to a sufficiently cold temperature (ie if the egg is only partially frozen it would be impossibly to tell)  It should be OK if you eat it straight away but freezing may affect the taste, so if its only one egg I wouldn't bother!
