do peas mind manure ?

i'm planing to put manure on the bed for peas next year, do they mind manure ?

are they like potatoes and pumpkins in that they like allot of manure ? or will just a little bit be ok for them ?

They don't need as much as both of those - a generous/normal amount but not a huge pile.

You then will not need to feed them during the growing season

You should always dig manure into the soil if you can (though I confess I have laid it on top over winter)
Its better for the soil structure, and stops any nutrients leeching out

Why?  If you leave it on the top it gives the worms some exercise - which is good for them.

True, (and me less of it!), but nutrients can leech out. 

I always thought it would be OK to leave on top but there was a thread here a while back where Trillium explained it very well. Cant find it though  :(
