My back garden is about 200 sq metres, about 50% of which has been given over to fruit and veg growing.

The percentage increases every year (my latest fantasy is wondering whether a runner bean wigwam would make an attractive feature in the middle of the lawn!)  :)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!
