Near to the bottom of this page you will find instructions for saving pumpkin seed.  Sounds like it isn't too difficult but I can't promise anything as I've not saved seed before myself.

I'ts possible I believe that cross pollination with other types may have taken place.....so there is no guarantee that pumpkins from the saved seed will look like the originals!!

Should make for an interesting experiment I would think.  Might be a good way for the kids to learn about cross pollination and inheritance so I'd say it'll be good either way.

think i will grow me saved seeds and i will grow a packet seed see what i get...
the kids love coming up the allotments, but the school had said its not in the everyday learning requrment, they only get 1/2 hour a week every now and then ,which is bad,i trying to get them more time aloud,i think they need to know the whole thing of growing+looking after where your food starts from etc....
i taking it up with the school gov's

If you're taking it up with the School Kerrie... might be handy to add some ooomph to your request.

http://schools.appetiteforaction.org.uk/

I work for Sky, and will tell you now, that the school may also benefit from either a donation of skill (free labour) or indeed cash!!

We're looking at working at my kids school to clear a run down piece of land to make a sensory herb garden for the dinner folks to be able to add fresh herbs to school dinners.
