Autumn Onion, Shallot & Garlic Collection

Is this a good deal, £14.40 with P&P or have others found cheaper anywhere?

I'll have a go, at our Lottie shop its £1.40 for a pound of onion sets and I'd say there were over 100 in that. £1.40 per bulb of garlic, looked like Solent Wight so that's £4.20 so far. I haven't bought any shallots for a while now and I know they can be quite pricey, but I doubt they're 50p per shallot. Anyway, sounds a little pricey to me, but if you don't have other options then get them. Think how much your finished product would cost you in the shops.

Thanks for the reply, I though it looked pricy, being new to all this it's difficult to know where to source things.

Quite often by the time you take P&P charges into account, it is just as cheap to buy onion sets etc in the local garden centre or DIY store imho

Not always as much choice I know, and you cannot order from the comfort of your armchair of an evening, but you get to select the packet you want from the box  :)

the watchword is that if you belong to an allotment association (and an allotment!) the cheapest option is to buy from the allotment shop (most have one in the area, not necessarily on every allotment)
I am quite lucky as my local allotment association (Bishops Stortford) is made up of about 8 sites dotted about the town and the allotment shop is on the site I have my patch....

I'd almost elvate it to the status of "rip off".

250 sets from my local nursery, (not allotment association), cost me just under £3.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

The price for the bulbs and sets is about right it's the postage that hurts, Radar are heat treated and very good performers resistant to bolting as well. Garlic is dear anywhere If you want Radar some Garden centers have started stocking them worth a look
