Blighted plants in bags

Just come back from digging up 12 slimy, black, blighted tomato plants and putting them in black plastic bags.
If I were to leave them for a long time in those bags, would they eventually be safe to compost?

I think they discussed the question of composting blighted plant material on Gardeners Question Time last Sunday. The panel was divided ... some would leave well alone, some would use it.

If they can't decide ...
