cheap chicken run?
« on: October 01, 2010, 15:14 »
hello i have a coop with am enclosed run which is too small for my 6 hens - can anyone tell me a cheap method how i can extend the run? I would like an enclosed run and to be able to fix it onto the existing coop and run. Would i just use chicken wire and posts? And if so how would i make it enclosed ? Many thanks for any suggestions!
regards Patricia

take a look at hills of devon - they seem to offer the best service, delivery and price for welded wire mesh on a roll. Choose the thickest that you can afford and also the smallest holes. Chicken wire is not fox proof and doesn't afford the same sort of protection that welded mesh does  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

Hi LooeLooe!  This is what Brian made for me out of tile battens and weldmesh.  they are 6ft long and 3ft high, but you could turn them upright and have them 6ft by 3ft high, or keep the battens as 6fts and have it 6ft x 6ft!

Joy gave me the idea of fixing panels together using cable ties, easy to move around and just make one of them into a gateway!

I covered the top with netting from Wilkinsons, but you could just as easily make further panels for the top!
