I usually just grow desiree, but I'm also growing estima & vale sovereign this year (and a few 'red roosters' from Tescos).

I'd say Cara or even Maris Piper, usually a good hit of the right size..

Though I have been struck with blight this year! my own fault as I did no spraying...cut all tops off yesterday and will have a wee peek perhaps next week if it drys up!

I too have planted Estima. Being new to all this, Could you tell me how I know when to dig them up ?

I grew Picasso this year for the 1st time. We had really bad blight this year so I cut the haulms off and dug them up last week (way too early...but wanted to salvage something) and they were really massive....approx 8-10lb per plant!!!....with no sign of blight (thank god) and with still many baby potatoes that had'nt matured. Will definitely be growing them again next year
