This is my first year with shallots, I planted Red Sun and Golden Gourmet.  The Red Sun have done really well and 1/3 were ready to harvest yesterday.  The Golden Gourmet are not doing very well and the bulbs are quiet green, is this normal?  I keep expecting them to change colour.

Is that as opposed to a really vibrant loud green, then?

(Sorry Ann, couldn't resist.  :? Don't grow shallots so can't be helpful I'm afraid)

When did you plant them?

I always go by the foliage ( when it turns brown and dies back its time to lift). If its green and healthy its still producing weight for the shallots.
Ah well ! There is always next year !

Shouldn't the shallots be turning brown though instead of staying green in colour?
