I spotted some in Homebase last week, never come across it before. The theory is you stop the slugs with the copper at the same time as stopping the weeds with the fabric.

Where's the proof that it actually works and isn't a gimmick?

(Not suggesting that you should provide it but Homebase certainly should!)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Well, it is a fairly established thing to put copper tape round pots to stop slugs, so I guess there must be a basis for saying copper deters slugs.

Best thing I have found for getting rid of the blighters is chooks, they dont arf clear them.
I believe the copper thing is somethng to do with some kind of eletrical charge when they crawl over it.

It's an electrolytic reaction of the slugs slime with the copper. Produces a mild tingle.

Pity it doesn't zap 'em good.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

The copper ring idea does seem to be an established technique for discouraging slugs from crossing it, I just can't figure out how that works when incorporated into weed fabric.

Can't find it on the Homebase website either...........  :nowink:

the copper thing works even metter when you connect it up to the mains supply.

not advising you to do this in anyway shape or form but it would deffo make them tingle more

Im looking for a good few ways on dealing with slugs snails im awear that my allotment has problems with them and need a few ways to get rid of them or at least stop them from eating my veg......
