Freezing Red Cabbage?
« on: September 04, 2010, 17:30 »
We've grown half a dozen lovely Red Cabbages, well five now, as we've now eaten most of one!! We don't particularly like it pickled, was wondering if it can be frozen and the best method, any suggestions please?

Another (related) question--- how long does it keep for, frozen, please?

I have enough pickled cabbage and like the idea of it being frozen and ready to cook  :)

I've had frozen cooked red cabbage keep for months in the freezer.  Would have thought you'd be OK for several months at least with it just blanched.

I'm going to cook a bit of one of mine today with some apple. It's good to know that the rest of it can be frozen, as they've grown quite big this year :)

I'd be inclined to cook it till nearly done........then all you have to do is microwave it on that day, it will save a lot of hassle :)
