Even more rescue plants
« on: September 04, 2010, 13:59 »
Well, for those of you who remember my previous stories of the rescue plants,  the last polytunnel at the old site came down this morning in preparation of being sited at the community garden in its new market garden area.

So while we were up there, we managed to rescue a couple of straggly Potentilla and I have just the perfect home for them. :) We also brought home a couple of red Dogwood which will make a good point of interest. None of us present could think what these (pictured in a 12 x 8 tray, roughly half litre pots) are, so if anyone has any thoughts......

:)

Well it does seem to. You are clever Mum, I didn't know you could read Czech! :D I tried a few plant id sites before I posted, but once you've answered "don't know" to deciduous or evergreen and "green" to foliage colour, well the sky's still the limit.

Anyone got a Czech translation website?

My first guess is perennial Russian Sage (petrovska). Or possibly Spanish lavender.

If so why do they keep changing them and confusing us even more...did you watch GW last night about the daisy family?........... even Karol Klein sounded a bit put out about their new name

Hi Trillium. :) From googling I would say its not Spanish Lavender, but I would not say that its not Russian Sage, but I think it probably is Caryopteris though, like

this

I've got one of them, it has a dark pink flower. :)

Going off topic (as we seem to be doing ;))

Did you see the Cerinthe Major Purpurescans on GW? We bought seeds after some consulatation on here, thanks Mum and Yorkie IIRC :). The garden is full of them! What a great seed to plant if you want prolific flowers! :)

And you quie like purple flowers, of course. ;)

No I didn't but its OK I managed without. I saw the ".cz" in the website name and thought Czech. I was just being a bit cheeky really in mentioning it, as by then I had the Latin name to go on.... ;)

Do you speak Slovak then Evie?

:)
