buying compost
« on: July 11, 2007, 13:56 »
i have a good quality of soil in the garden, our house was built on old farm land and everything i have grown veg and plants/shrubs thrive.

but i want to dig i some compost into the new tunnel im building.

the main question is would a general multi-purpous compost be ok just to put something in there and give it that bit extra or is there something anyone can recoment thats no over priced and easly avalible?

thanks

nathan

I helped my dad set up a plot in Cheshire and I rang around looking for cheap compost and the best I found was from a skip company (called soil improver) in Runcorn and he got a ton for £5!  He just took his trailer and a JCB dropped a huge scoop in.

I would call your local skip companies.  Some councils and dumps also have composting schemes and give it away or offer it very cheap (Made from peoples garden waste that is collected in the brown bins)
Avoid fruit and nuts.  You are what you eat.
