Hello Eglu owners,

(photos now added 14.08.10)

We just got hold of a second hand Eglu recently and noticed there is a 2cm gap all along between the pull out tray and wall above it. Is this normal or any cause for concern ?

Nothing seems to be missing or broken, and googling doesn't throw it up as a regular issue....i'm just concerned it might be draughty.

Thanks

Not quite sure where you mean threeranger .

Do you mean where you slide the tray in ?

I can try and get a piccie on here tomorrow....but yes I think we are talking about the same bit.

In the meantime I can describe; if I open the front door, and look at the back of the eglu I can see a 2cm slit of daylight all along the bottom, between top of tray and the frame it slides into.

It's as if it should ride a little higher so there is minimum gap, but for some reason it doesn't sit high enough.

Thanks

Hmmm.. Doesn't sound like mine.  You could be doing something wrong.

Thanks for the link....this is a bit faffy without a photo from me lol

However, here's a question - when you pull the tray out, you use fingers to push the catch beneath the tray....
before you pull it out, could you fit your thumb on top of the tray, or would you have to pull the tray out a little before you can can grasp it with fingers and thumb ?

- I bet you've never had to analyse your 'poop tray pulling out technique' in such detail before  ;)

Feel free to tell me to wait til i've posted a pic !

Thanks

This is what my eglu looks like in it's normal position.

This is what it looks like if I push the tray right downwards.

It looks as though your tray may be sitting rather low down and this could be one of two things (unless I can think of any more).

1.  The tray could be slightly twisted or bent so that it pushes the back down.  You could correct this by pushing a small wedge under the tray.  Or get Omlet to supply a new one for you.

2.  The metal clip under the tray could be bent so that it does not protrude low enough to hold the tray up higher.

I'd have a look at the metal catch first.  Make sure it is fitted in tightly to the tray and not bent.  If it's damaged I'm sure that Omlet can send you another piece.

PS most of the gaps are there for a good reason - ventillation.

Thanks, that's quite re-assuring, as it looks, from you pics like their should be a small gap anyway....just not as wide as mine.

I just used a couple of plastic wedges (the type you use at the edge of laminate flooring) and that pushed it as high as it would go, still leaving a small gap, but much improved.

Will get in touch with Omlet, not got any warranties or receipts though as it second hand, but worth a try.

Thanks for your time and help !

Check the droppings tray clip.  I have a suspicion it could be the problem.
