  my little cockerell's comb is usually a bright red in colour but it has started going blacky/purple at the ends, he is still running around and eating and drinking, i have tried washing off but it does not come off so i am guessing it is heart problems, has gone like this before but goes back red but it is showing no signs off change, he rarely crows so is the perfect boy to have in my garden as rarely upsets next door, i am afraid that it does not look good can anyone give some advice on causes and his future as if he is suffering i would rather cull him but this will be a sad end as he is my childresn pet who will allow to pick him up and carry him. please help....

It could be a vitamin problem - try getting him some drops to go into his water that have vit B's in it, or a little bit of toast with brewers yeast spread on it if he will eat that (only a little as this is salty). As the weather is cooling off now and the breeding season is coming to an end he may pick up

It could also be a circulation problem. I would take him to the vets just to be sure.
