sweet pea problem
« on: August 02, 2010, 08:49 »
The leaves on my sweet peas look like it's got some sort of decease.  It looks like whitish grey markings. The flowers look healthy, although I expected there to be more.  They're 'Kings' variety.  If it would help, I could try to put a photo onto here.

Your post has been merged with another one with the same questions - have a look at the posts above yours for more info about mildew, which I think you probably have (well, your sweet peas  ::) )
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Thanks all, for the advise on mildew.  I've been cutting off the pods, and some of the suckers, is this correct.  I also cut myself a few of the flowers every few days.  Am I doing everything I should be doing.

Thats what I do, the more you can remove the suckers, it will prevent them from twisting around new flower stems, and so your flowers will be nice and long and straight.  It is important to remove all the dead flowers to increase flowering.  I think you are doing just fine. regards,  Mrs Bouquet.
