strawberry runners
« on: July 19, 2006, 11:13 »
Hi all - I've pegged some strawberry runners into pots, and noticed last night that 1 pegged runner is starting to produce flowers.  Is it best to nip them off so the plant puts its energy into roots for next year?  Or let them fruit?

Many thanks

We have potted up our runners and have read that you shouldn't let them fruit so it is probably best to nip off the flowers.  Also you should cut the runner from the main plant when the runner has about 3 or 4 leaves on it.

Hope that helps  :D
