Brugmansia problem
« on: July 25, 2010, 01:48 »
My two year old Brugmansia has just put out it's first flower with a few more pods yet to flower. My problem is that the very ends of the flower 'petals' are turning brown and rotting away. Any ideas as to what the problem could be?

IMH experience, the flowers don't last much more than a day or so before going over -is this a possibility? I've got several in my garden and they all do this. By the way, are we all aware that these things are very toxic??

Brugs are thirsty plants so need a lot of water and a big pot (unless they're planted out). They prefer a lot of light but not full sun, otherwise the flowers can dry out very quickly. Mine are kept close to trees that filter the sunlight and the flowers last for several days befor fading.
