Don't see why not, we post enough when we've had bad service from a website  :D

This looks interesting!  ;)

I just wondered how many seeds there are in most packets..  Here (Spinach-Emilia) there are 50 for 50p.
Is 1p a seed about right?

Anyone know?

50 for 50p = 0.01p each

Fothergills
300 for 1.85 = 0.0062p each

Therefore Fothergills 40% (ish) cheaper but that might vary on different seeds. More comparisons would need to be made.

I think your decimal point is in the wrong place Fisherman, or it should be £ not p, but we get the point.

Going to the extreme Moles Seeds are £3.20 for 10,000 seed, which makes them only 0.032 pence, each - a huge difference from 1p each.

I think the point being made though is that it's OK if you don't want a great quantity, but I'd have thought 50 seeds of a bunching spinach wouldn't go very far!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Just had a look at the peas.

Early onward 50p for 50 - 1p each and that's only enough for about a 4' row.

Moles are £2.80 for at least 3,000 - that's more than 10 seeds for 1p. Again the comment about if you don't need quantity applies, but this is a tremendous mark up.

I like it as it has lots of oriental veg. As i live in N.ireland i've found it really hard to get seeds, plants gardening stuff etc delivered.  :(Most companies seem to be only able to post mainland UK, found company that Scotland was excluded how much in the dark ages are they!

Northern Ireland surely is UK mainland.

Which companies say they won't deliver there & which one won't do Scotland?

Any restriction on "export" of plant material to N.Ireland?

I've noticed (we build eCommerce sites) that for most of our clients the courier companies are increasing the number of postcodes that they charge extra for - used to be "Highlands and Islands" but is now a long list of postcodes. So it may be related to cost if they are using a courier, rather than Royal mail, and only offering a fixed shipping charge (the shipping rules we have had to build are quite complex so I have some sympathy)

Hi Sloegin - like you I live in Northern Ireland. I have had regular deliveries form Suttons, Marshals, Mr Fothergills and an organic company whose name I cannot remember and cannot find catalogue at present. Never had any issue regarding delivery. Even plug plants for flowers (cannot seem to grow flowers from seed for some reason) always delivered in good condition. Maybe you should try these companies. Also there are some really good garden centres not too far from you - would recommend Donaghadee Garden Centre - slightly expensive but worth a visit.

I tried moreveg last year but decided not to bother again as the mark up is unethical - they sell the point that most people don't want or don't use half the packet from conventional seeds but then don't price according tot he rest of the market. I think they are exploiting what would be a good idea by hikihng up the price for less quantity.

Also, the seeds are hand packed in poly bags; hardly the samne as buying your seeds foil packed.

Many seeds remain viable for more than one or two years anyway so as long as you keep your seeds in order and a dry place, moreveg is just a false economy with a fancy green name.

... and that's why - I'm out.
