What type of tomatoes are these
« on: July 23, 2010, 18:27 »
Hi, you may not remember me, i am the novice grower who got some really hot chilli seeds and started to grow them, coming here for some advisc. Well the week after, i thought i would give growing other stuff ago as it was quite fun, so i went to my parents house and pinched a tomatoe plant. Anyway, tomatoes have started growing, but what i want to know is, are these plum tomatoes or normal tomatoes. I really hope they are normal, though i bet they are not knowing my luck.

Can you still eat plum tomatoes in sandwiches and stuff lol

Thanks for the help.

They look like plumb tomatoes don't they :)

When they are nice and ripe they will be delicious in sandwiches.

Plum tomatoes are perfectly normal toms; they're just plum-shaped!

Not quite sure about yours; there are hundreds of varieties out there, most of which finish up red and tomato-ey.

My "Red Alert" start off looking a bit plummy in shape but finish up fairly rounded but I'm not saying that's what yours are.

Enjoy them whatever they are; they seem to be doing well!
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

They look very similar shaped to my Oxheart Pink at the moment, but they could be plum.
I actually prefer plum toms to regular ones- more flavour for sauces too.... definitely great in sandwiches!

If its any help I dont think they are Roma (one type of plum tomato) as mine have had massive flowers- think the larger flower allows for a big tomato, but no idea really!

They look good and healthy though, we all just need the good weather back now to ripen them up!
Very often quite lost- would be more lost if I could work out where I was!- But always find my way home.....
