Hi, I wondered if anyone could help - this is my first year growing my own veg and I think I may have a problem with my broccoli, It's grown a really high (about 1 meter) shoot and is beginning to flower - it is in a very sunny spot in my garden so I wondered if this could be the problem? I've tried to attach a photo, any help would be much appreciated!

I'm sorry but it has bolted, so that's that   You can eat the leaves if you like the taste.
This has happened a lot this year, so try not to let it put you off of trying again, as there isn't really much you can do about it in this heat

You cut green broccoli when the buds are tight in the middle. Its harvesting time has been and gone. If you cut the stem right back to the leaves you may get small heads forming.

how disapointing, is it worth cutting back and seeing what happens or should I just pull it up and give the rest more space?

As Salmo says, it's always worth trying for a small crop by cutting back and allowing new sprouts to form.

This worked quite well for us, so I can reccomend giving it a go
